Partnership Wins Seven Awards

05 October 2013
The Greater Richmond Partnership, Inc., the region's economic development marketing organization, has won seven communications awards from the Southern Economic Development Council (SEDC) for their marketing tools.

Among the highest winners in their category is the redesign of the Partnership's website, GRPVA.com, the integrated marketing campaign for RichmondJobNet.com and the creation of RVA Agents, a grassroots promotion program.

"Seven is, by far, the most awards we have received from one competition," said Greg Wingfield, CEO of the Partnership. "To achieve 13 SEDC awards in two years is a testament to our staff's creativity and how hard we work to produce outstanding marketing materials on behalf of the Richmond Region."

RVA Agents was launched at the Partnership's 18th Annual Meeting & Investor's Reception as a way to engage the active regional ambassadors and business travelers. Armed with black sunglasses and pocket-sized brochures, Agents are asked to help the GRP with their mission: tell the story of Greater Richmond to people they meet and help bring business to the Richmond Region.

"We're very proud of the work our team produces, as well as a couple of key vendors that have helped create these products," said Wingfield.

Rick Whittington Consulting, a GRP Investor, has worked with the Partnership's various websites for the last four years. RWC has been doing economic development marketing since 2009, and GRP was one of their first economic development clients. This is RWC's second redesign of the award-winning website.

"Greater Richmond is our home, and the region has several marketable assets that a community needs to make the short list. We wanted to prove it through visuals and rich content on the website, and give site selectors tools that help them make location decisions," said Rick Whittington.

BUSINESS OWNER DEBBIE JOHNSTON TRAVELS TO RICHMOND, CA SHARING HOPE AND CONTRIBUTIONS WITH A COMMUNITY IN NEED ON ABC'S "SECRET MILLIONAIRE"

"Debbie Johnston - Richmond, CA" - It's the tale of two Richmonds as healthcare industry self-made millionaire Debbie Johnston leaves her home in Richmond, Virginia for the impoverished and crime-stricken streets of Richmond, California with a mission to find deserving people and organizations in need.  During her week-long visit, Debbie meets a number of grass-roots organizations that touch and move her in amazing ways, including: Reach Fellowship International, a community center that provides job training, employment and medical education and services; NIAD Art Center, a studio art program and gallery assisting adults with developmental and physical disabilities as well as Self-Sustaining Communities, an organization working with low-income residents and community members to create wide-scale, environmentally sustainable local food production.  After a week of getting to know the amazing people behind these organizations, Johnston shares the surprise of a lifetime with them on "Secret Millionaire" SUNDAY, AUGUST 18 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

Debbie Johnston grew up on a farm in Virginia.  As one of six children, Debbie's parents worked hard to provide for their family, and when Debbie wanted to attend nursing school, her parents scraped together her $3,000, three-year tuition for Johnston Willis School of Nursing. Following graduation, Debbie began working and rising through the ranks of the nursing profession.  While Debbie felt she was making a difference helping people, she also began to feel that patient diagnosis became the criteria for insurance companies paying hospital bills, regardless of the length of the patient's stay or their needs following discharge from the hospital.

Wanting to make a change in the industry, Debbie founded the home health-care company, Care Advantage, Inc. in 1988  With more than 3,000 employees and 14 offices and sister offices throughout Virginia, Debbie's care is felt state-wide.  Care Advantage is a leading home health care company that offers personal, companion, and skilled nursing care to individuals in their homes, hospitals, nursing homes, retirement homes, and other settings.  Services are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week and range from assisting with everyday tasks like bathing, getting dressed and preparing meals to providing companionship and skilled nursing services, all tailored to meet individual patient needs.   www.careadvantageinc.com.

Care Advantage, Inc. is a member firm of Executive Women International of Richmond, VA. Debbie Johnston is an inspiration to our members and to the Central Virginia community.
