 This chapter year is starting off with a bang! Endless Opportunities - VISION was the them of our November Membership Meeting. We discussed the Vision statement for EWI. "To be a professional organization that creates value for its firms and their representatives through career development, business connectivity, and involvement in local communities." I challenged all to think big, think out of the box! Joel Barker said, "Vision without action is a dream. Action without vision is simply passing the time. Action with Vision is making a positive difference." The November meeting holds the annual title of Membership Retreat. So, we changed things up a bit and had Power Committee Meetings. We divided into small groups and met with a different Committee Chair. At the end of 10 minutes (or so), we changed until we met with all six committee chairs. Ideas were flying and notes were taken. The Committee chairs educated each group with a little background on what the position entails, tasks for committee members, and future ideas for the committee. We discussed what is going great, where we can improve, what season we are in as a chapter, and we even had some open discussion time as a group! Thank you for the many e-mails and phone calls regarding our meeting. I am so glad you enjoyed the evening. It was educational, informative, and FUN! Each Committee Chair is reviewing the many, many notes and ideas took during the group sessions, and the Board will report shortly the information that was gathered. Our December meeting will be very special as we will have a great friend to EWI of Richmond, Dr. Bill Bosher. He will review the importance of education during these economic times and give great advice to all. Our special music for the evening will be the American Youth Harp Ensemble. I can only imagine how beautiful this will be. So mark you calendar and be sure to invite your executive, colleagues, and others who might benefit from this program. It's hard to believe that we are ending the year 2009, however, I am looking forward to a fabulous 2010! EWI of Richmond has exciting programs and a special event is looming for June 2010 with a very special guest speaker! You will not want to miss this exciting citywide women's event! I look forward to seeing each one of you on December 10! Thank you for your continued dedication to this great organization.
