Yes, it is cold, snowy, and yes, it is February in Richmond! But, spring is just around the corner and will be here before we know it. Last month, we set goals and learned tips on how to reach them with our own Dr. Heather Williamson, Transformation Group, LLC. I hope each of you continue to focus on the rewards of your goal, work through the obstacles, and take the necessary action steps to reach your goal's target date!

This month, Gregory H. Wingfield, CEO & President, Greater Richmond Partnership, will host our firstĀ firm night in 2011. We will tour their offices and Mr. Wingfield will present, " 2011, the Year of Richmond's Economic Turnaround." Invitations have been sent to your Executives, so please encourage them to attend. In March, Eva T. Hardy, Dominion Resources, retired Senior Vice President of Public Policy, will speak to us. Woody's Funeral Home will host their firm night for us at SunTrust Bank in April, and May brings our EWISP scholarship night where Janet Polarek, Secretary of the Commonwealth, will speak to us as we announce three high school junior winners.

Your board and committee chairs have been working hard and are diligently focused on their various responsibilities to bring you exciting events this year and EWISP and ASIST as well as an enhanced literacy initiative. The corporate board is keeping their promise to teach, train, and trust as they offer webinar training sessions for board and committee members. These sessions are great opportunities for instruction and idea sharing of representatives across the country. Each of us has that teach and trust opportunity with the new firms and representatives in our chapter. Please welcome our newest members by sharing your EWI knowledge with them.

As a reminder, the deadline for your 2011 EWI membership renewal was January 31, 2011. We know you and your firm have benefited from the networking, professional development, and the opportunities to give back to the community that our chapter provides. If you have not yet responded with your firms plan for renewal, please contact Rebecca Shields, representing Luck Stone Corporation, as soon as possible. To those that have submitted your renewal, we appreciate and thank you for your continued participation and help in making our chapter grow and prosper!

Thank you all for being an important part of EWI Richmond!

Sincerely,

Lauren Cordrey
