Welcome to July, a month of summer funĀ  and celebration. We will be celebrating our Adult Students in Scholastic Transition (ASIST) Awards Night on July 14, 2011 beginning at 5:30 pm at Dominion Resources, Tredegar location. Enjoy the 4th of July holiday and then I will see you all the following week as this is truly one of the most special events for our chapter every year.

Our June Firm Night and membership meeting with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) was more fun and celebration as our chapter celebrated its 44th birthday! We all enjoyed exploring BBB's new office and deciding what auction items we were interested in. Mr. Tom Gallagher, President & CEO, of the Better Business Bureau serving Central Virginia, spoke to us about the BBB's role in the community and their branding says it all, "Start with Trust." They are the authority on trust in the marketplace and their passion in helping consumers get free, expert advice and information is very evident. The "Purse Power" silent auction was a huge success confirmed by Tonia Sharpe's, Fundraising Director, SunTrust Bank, announcement at the end of the evening that we had raised over $800.00.

It is also that special time of year when registration begins for this year's EWI Leadership Conference and Annual Meeting (LCAM) to be held in Minneapolis, Minnesota. For those that have never attended LCAM, you must! The LCAM experience is one that will give you the big EWI picture. It will be invaluable to you personally and professionally. This year, corporate is accepting applications for the 2011 First Time LCAM Attendee award. This award is made possible by the Past Corporate Presidents and wll be for an EWI representative who is attending LCAM for the first time. Please take advantage of this opportunity. You might just be the lucky random winner!

Additionally, our chapter will present two LCAM awards this year. The 2011 Richmond LCAM award and the Richmond Metropolitan Convention & Visitors Bureau Michelle Lovatt award will be presented to two EWI of Richmond Chapter representatives. I look forward to receiving many applications by July 22, 2011 for consideration.

Best Regards,
