| It is Hot, Hot, Hot! I know you all will agree, yes, it is hot! While the weather has been sultry and somewhat unbearable, EWI of Richmond is truly hot, hot, and hot right now and totally amazing! It is Hot, Hot, Hot!I know you all will agree, yes, it is hot! While the weather has been sultry and somewhat unbearable, EWI of Richmond is truly hot, hot, and hot, right now and totally amazing! Our July membership meeting and ASIST Awards Night, once again proved to be one of the most powerful and wonderful events in our chapter year. Thank you Brenda Long, Vice President/President-Elect, representing Dominion Resources, Inc., for having us all to Dominion for this important event. The entire chapter thanks your Executives and the Dominion Foundation for their most generous donation of $25,000.00 in support of the Business and Career Development Program. We are back to Dominion on Thursday, August 11, 2011, for our August membership meeting. How fortunate we are to spend another evening on the river! Our guest speaker will be Wanda Ortwine, Chief Family Officer, with Luck Stone Corporation. Ms. Ortwine will be speaking to us regarding "Developing the Leader within You". Please plan to come to Dominion once again in August. I personally feel like this summer has flown by. September is right around the corner now and LCAM is on the horizon. I am very excited to report that our chapter will be very well represented at LCAM this year with at least thirteen committed representatives heading for Minneapolis! Several are first time attendees and then there are those of us that have been before and want more! You can find all the latest details on LCAM in the Corporate Connect or online at www.myewi.com. You might have noticed in the July 20, 2011 Corporate Connect, that our own Brenda Long was featured in an article describing a connection she made with a Kansas business that just might mean a new member firm for the Kansas City Chapter. In that same Connect and on an open forum call with the Corporate Board, I learned that our EWISP corporate nominee was awarded an additional $2,000.00 in scholarship funds. Congratulations to Kristen Christopherson, LC Bird High School! Ladies, our Chapter has had an EWISP corporate winner for two years in a row! Amazing... I am happy to report that while the weather heats up, your chapter board and committee remain dedicated and hard at work continuing with the business of the chapter. Literacy initiatives abound so please plan to attend one of the exciting events coming up in August, September, and October. Kelly Kerr, Director at Large, Virginia Commonwealth University, provides more details in her message enclosed. Of course, the most exciting time is ahead as we embark upon a partnership with VCU AmeriCorps and the Bainbridge Boys & Girls Club to impact the club in lasting, meaningful ways on a daily basis. You know the EWI of Richmond Chapter is truly amazing! Thank you all for everything you do for EWI of Richmond and our community. Stay Cool, Lauren Cordrey EWI of Richmond President 2010-2011
