September is here and it is exciting! The weather is a bit cooler, kids are back to school and the EWI Leadership Conference and Annual Meeting is around the corner. September is here and it is exciting! The weather is a bit cooler, kids are back to school and the EWI Leadership Conference and Annual Meeting is around the corner. This month, our chapter will reap the reward bestowed upon us by Corporate for achieving 100% retention of our member firms in 2011. Our August membership meeting with Wanda Ortwine, Chief Family Officer, with Luck Stone Corporation, left me thoughtful as well as excited about the prospect of igniting those around me in my personal and professional life to do their very best at realizing their full potential in their own work, personal and service life. Like you, I am sure, I can think of those in our chapter who have ignited me and inspired me both personally and professionally. I feel so thankful and so blessed to count myself a part of this wonderful organization. The evening with Luck Stone was truly lovely and thank you again Dominion for sharing your beautiful location with us once again! September brings us back home to SunTrust Bank for a special evening with Carol Price, international trainer and executive coach, as our guest speaker. Her presentation, "Is being Brilliant...Enough?" will explore concepts of what makes us who we are - IQ, EQ, and personality. Which of those do we control and what relationships do we need to spend the bulk of our time with and which are toxic to us. Carol will share how we become the Brilliant versus the Brilliant but. This is sure to be an interesting evening that you will not want to miss. Please be sure to invite any potential member firms and representatives you feel would enjoy and benefit from the experience. Of course, we will have some business to tend to including voting on the nominating committee's 2011-2012 slate of Chapter Officers and Directors. This is an exciting group of women proudly representing their firms by committing to the upcoming year of service to our chapter. Your current board is wrapping up the year and is committed to a successful, smooth transition to a new Chapter year. We remain focused while looking ahead to our partnership with VCU AmeriCorps and the Bainbridge Boys and Girls Club which begins this month and our Reading Rally to be held at the Boys and Girls Club this year on October 8, 2011. This is truly an exciting time for EWI of Richmond! I look forward to seeing you all at our very special September Retention and Recruitment Membership Meeting! Sincerely, Lauren Cordrey EWI of Richmond President 2010-2011
